Geomembranes

Geomembranes

Geomembranes are impermeable, making them watertight. They are used for various functions:

  • waterproofing liquid storage tanks;

  • sealing cofferdams to deflect water;

  • covering the bottom and sides of a temporary diversion channel;

  • containing and separating contaminated soils;

  • temporarily covering bare soil and storing materials outdoors in dry conditions;

  • containing waste.

The success of your project depends on selecting the right geomembrane

These construction materials are in the geosynthetic family and are made primarily of synthetic fibres (polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, rubber, PVC), in the form of continuous, thin, flexible membranes that are impermeable to liquids. Geomembranes are used in civil engineering, mining engineering, environmental applications, agriculture, construction and landscaping.

Which geomembrane to choose depends on constraints and the desired application. Do you want the geomembrane to sink in water? What type of liquid do you want to contain? Could certain contaminants alter the properties of the membrane? Is a protective geotextile necessary to keep the geomembrane from being punctured?

Terraquavie will help you succeed by guiding you in your selection process. Contact us for details.
